Chrissy and Dad do Mt. Tallac

While the Baileys are vacationing at Lake Tahoe, Chrissy and David took the opportunity to hike to the top of Mount Tallac, a striking peak that overlooks the south end of Lake Tahoe. Here are some photos.

The great Bailey remodel project

As most of you know, we have just finished a major remodel of our master bath and bedroom. We also recarpeted Michelle’s bedroom and Diane’s bedroom (or perhaps we should say Felicity’s bedroom). While we were at it, we also painted the gazebo. It is now all done, except that there has been a delay

The Lost City of Volvon

This morning Linda and I hiked our way to the “Lost City of Volvon,” a little-known Native American historical site in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area. It has literally hundreds of mortar holes, which were used by members of the Volvon tribe of Bay Miwok Indians to grind acorns and other food items (soap

DHB hikes the Ramage Peak Trail

Right smack in the middle of the East Bay area is a remarkable 13-mile-long trail through rugged, pristine country, known as the Ramage Peak Trail. It starts in Castro Valley near Lake Chabot, heads north and finally finishes at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon.

This morning Mom was kind enough to

Morro Bay to Monterey

Mom and I just finished a nice Thanksgiving trip to Cambria, a small town on the central California coast, approximately halfway (225 miles) from San Francisco and Los Angeles. Today we drove up the coast on Highway 1. Here are some photos.

Baileys vacation at Brian Head, Cedar Breaks and Zion

The Bailey clan (all but the Lees) are just concluding a very enjoyable vacation in a cabin at Brian Head. We also visited nearby Cedar Breaks National Monument and Zion National Park. Among the highlights was a hike of the Virgin River Narrows, by Adam, Alberto, Diane, Chrissy and Sam. Here are some photos.

Chrissy and Sam conquer Mt. Timp (and who is that 67-year-old man?)

Today (12 Aug 2015) Chrissy, Sam and myself hiked to the top of Mt. Timpanogos. The hike is grueling (and more than a bit scary near the end), but the views are magnificent. Here are a few photos.

DHB visits France (and he’s not “Lyon”)

I just returned from a brief but enjoyable trip to Lyon, France (Lyon is pronounced “LEE-OWN”). I attended a conference on computer arithmetic. Mom did not come with me this time — she visited Lyon with me for a similar computer conference about eight years ago.

Lyon is known for its great restaurants, and they
