Our kitchen remodel is done!

As most of you are aware, last August Linda and I discovered a “problem” in our kitchen — buckling in the hardwood floor, among other things. A plumber friend found that the outlet hose of our dishwasher had been eaten by a hungry rat, and in addition to the water damage on the floor, there

It’s hard to be in the Christmas spirit when it’s sunny on the beach

But we try anyway. Yes, it really is very nice here in sunny San Diego. The heavy rains are gone, and Christmas is lovely.

Here are some photos we took. Please join in and add some Christmas photos of your own!

The Upside of Being Single

Grandma Bailey once told me that I wouldn’t be an important grandchild until I had babies.

I think she’s probably right – it’s basically impossible to beat pictures of Cora, Kacee, Brooke, Jonas, Rachelle, and Beckett being so darn adorable. But, as I’ve discovered this summer, there sure are a lot of upsides to being

Hiking duo conquers Mt Dana and Mono Pass

On Aug 23 Michelle and I hiked to the top of Mt Dana in Yosemite, which at 13,075 ft is the second-highest mountain in Yosemite (after Mt Lyell). It is a difficult hike, almost as challenging as Half Dome, in part because of the higher elevation (the entire hike is well above the elevation of

We took one of the whale-watching tour boats from Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey to see the sights.

60-year-old grandmother hikes to top of jagged Sierra Buttes

Yup. Linda and I hiked to the top of a very dramatic-looking, craggy mountain peak in Northern California known as Sierra Buttes. It was a lovely day, and a lovely hike. Here are some photos:

Sierra Buttes from the road, on our way to the trailhead: Photo Close-up shot of summit — note there is

When you’re single, you have a lot of free time to decorate ward activities…

Adam and I met two years ago when he was rappelling from a skylight into the gym dressed as Batman for the annual Singles Ward Film Festival. They asked Adam to host this year’s Tim Burton themed event as Willy Wonka even though we graduated from being singles. I went as the White Queen from

Does this make us yuppies?

Yep, that’s me on the trainer just before I beat Lance Armstrong who was racing on the TV in front of me. After beating Lance a few times on the new bike I got for my birthday (I love you Adam!), we set out for two 25 mile rides along the beach and are taking
