Updated: 2 July 2025
[ ] BELONGINGS: Please carefully collect all belongings.
[ ] CABLES, CHARGERS AND MONITORS: Please return any chargers, cables or adapters you have used to the lower drawer below the upstairs TV. Please return computer monitors to the upstairs desks or the master bedroom.
[ ] KITCHEN: Even if you are using the cleaning service, PLEASE: (a) clean any food messes; (b) clean (using soft cloths) the stovetop and the inside of the microwave; (c) empty the refrigerator, except freezer items and long-lasting condiments in the doors; (e) wash pots, pans and sharp knives by hand, and return them to the cabinets; and (f) place all other dirty dishes and silverware in the dishwasher and start it running before you leave.
[ ] LAUNDRY, FLOORS AND BATHROOMS (with cleaning service): Please leave sheets, towels and washcloths in piles on the beds. You do not need to clean the floors and carpets.
[ ] LAUNDRY, FLOORS AND BATHROOMS (without cleaning service): Please collect all sheets, towels and washcloths you have used, wash and dry them, and make the beds. Extra items are in the master bedroom closet. Also, please sweep and mop all the floors, especially in the kitchen-TV area. Vacuum carpets of any rooms that you have used, and clean any bathrooms that you have used. Cleaning supplies are in the upstairs laundry and coat closet.
[ ] TRASH: Place all landfill trash in the bear-proof box on the street, and place clean recyclables in the blue-top container on the northwest side of the house. We will ask a neighbor to take the blue-top container to the street and back, according to the Schedule. If your trash does not fit in the bear-proof box or in the blue-top container, you may take it to the South Tahoe Recycling Center (2192 Ruth Avenue), or to the South Tahoe Refuse Company (2140 Ruth Avenue); either may charge a small fee.
[ ] BARBECUE: Please turn off the gas supply to the barbecue on the balcony. The red handle on the pipe from the house should be perpendicular to the pipe.
[ ] THERMOSTAT: Normally you do not need to set the thermostat yourself. Call or text us when you are out of the house, and we will set it remotely.
[ ] ELECTRONICS: Please turn off both TVs using the Logitech remotes. However, DO NOT turn off the power strips that power the internet and video equipment. If you have used any video service using your own account, please log out before leaving.
[ ] LIGHTS, APPLIANCES AND WATER: Please turn off all lights and appliances, except: (a) the dishwasher (if still in use) and refrigerator; (b) the lamp in the master bedroom connected to a timer; and (c) the under-counter lights in the kitchen. Also, please check that no toilet is running.
[ ] DOORS AND WINDOWS: Please close and lock all doors and windows, except do not lock the lower (non-digital) handle of the door going into the garage. Please also close all shades and shutters, except the upper shutters in the master bedroom. Place the wooden rods in the tracks of each of the two lower level sliding doors. NOTE: The alarm system only verifies that doors and windows are closed; it does not verify that they are locked — you must check them manually.
[ ] ALARM SYSTEM: Normally you do not need to set the alarm yourself. Call or text us when you are out of the house, and we will set it remotely.
[ ] LOCK DOOR AND EXIT: After exiting either the front door or the door going into the garage, press “Schlage” on the deadbolt face to lock the door, then please double check that the door is locked. If not, press “Schlage” and your six-digit code, then press “Schlage” again and recheck. If you exit through the garage, press “Enter” (possibly more than once) on the outdoor garage door keypad to close the garage door, then verify that the garage door has completely closed. If you have questions, please call us immediately.
[ ] CALL OR TEXT: Please call or text us saying that you have secured the house. Thanks!
