Baileys conquer Angel’s Landing

Anyone who has visited Zion National Park will remember Angel’s Landing, a razor-thin mountain of rock that juts up above the Big Bend, across the river from the Great White Throne and the Weeping Rock Waterfall. In one of the first explorations of Zion Canyon in 1916, Frederick Fisher exclaimed, “only an angel could land on it,” and so it was named.

Needless to say, the hike to the top is not for the faint-of-heart. The final ascent to the top creeps along a ridge only a few feet wide in places, with sheer cliffs dropping 1200 ft to the valley floor.

But several of the Bailey family (David, Diane, Cynthia, Jusok) made it to the top. Here are some photos. I have many other photos of the Zion area if anyone is interested.

Hike starts on bridge over Virgin River (Linda, Jonas and Richelle played in water)

Yikes! You're kidding, right?!

Does this look scary? It is. Very!
